Our mission has two parts, support and education. Sharing survivors’ stories is essential in educating about all of the effects of sexual violence. Cans for Hope is proud to have a group of public speakers that we can coordinate to speak in our community.

Letter to Barb after speaking to a high school group:
I just wanted to thank you so much for talking about anti-bullying and your personal story with us. It made me open up my eyes and see the people who are hurt and need someone to make them feel like they are a part of this world. Thank you so much! I just wanted to tell you something I’m not comfortable telling in front of others. I was bullied in elementary school it was the worst years of my life. I went home crying everyday and it was just bad. And growing up I never wanted to feel that way, so I became like everyone else in middle school. I taunted and made fun of the other kids. I was afraid that if I wasn’t like everybody else they weren’t going to like me and I was going to be left alone again with no friends just like in elementary school. I feel horrible for being a part of that group that bullied people. But now I realize I need to reach out to those who bully and those who are bullied.
They probably felt the way I did in middle school. But I thank the Lord for letting me realize it now in high school that bullying people is not okay, and how much of an effect it has on someone’s life-especially the life long effect.
And to have meet you, you don’t know what an impact you have made in my life and I can’t thank you enough for doing so!
